Laughter Defeating the Beast
Honoring our innate ability to laugh in the face of overwhelming emotions, this piece was born from a desire to explore the power of laughter and its diverse forms throughout our lives. Laughter can be overwhelming, contagious, shared, given, and received.

Due to its scale and unique design demands, this piece was created in the same Moroccan factory that manufactures wind turbines. The monumental 12-meter-high (39 feet 4 inches) piece uses color to emphasize and juxtapose varying types of laughter, be it a child's laughter of glee and an adult's laughter in the face of grief. Anilore conducted a five-month workshop with children confined to the Robert Debré Hospital for Mothers and Children in Paris. Through this workshop, the project evolved and led to an exhibition in 2009 titled 'The Garden of Laughter'.
